The Nossa Senhora da Candelária Church is the main church in Indaiatuba and it  marks the founding site of our sity. Elevated to the status of a parish on December 9, 1830, it became the heart of the village, bringing together the neighboring districts. Around the Matriz church, the farmers residences were built. It is one of the few taipa de pilão (rammed earth) churches still standing in São Paulo, exemplifying colonial religious architecture in our state.
